DIstance Learning Science GCSE - The Course
Each lesson of the Science GCSE course begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study.

A number of straightforward and varied practical tasks, together with simply drawn, easy-to-copy illustrations, also help prepare for the coursework element. There are nine tutor-marked assignments and a practice exam paper. No previous knowledge of science is assumed or required.

The Syllabus
Our Science course prepares students for AQA GCSE Combined Science syllabus 3463, for exams in 2006 and later years. This is a single award GCSE. Assessment is by three written papers (80%) and a practical exam or further written paper testing practical skills (20%). A third "extended" written paper is for students aiming for grades A and B. We have chosen this syllabus as the most suitable for distance learning.
Practical Skills/Coursework
Science GCSE students are required to show some familiarity with a number of basic experiments. These experiments can be carried out by distance learners in the home but access to laboratory facilities is advantageous. Guidence is given in the course pack.
