Distance Learning Physics GCSE - The Course

Each Physics GCSE course lesson begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study.

Effective learning is encouraged through frequent activities and self-assessment questions. A number of straightforward and varied practical tasks, together with simply drawn, easy-to-copy illustrations, also help prepare for the coursework element. There are nine tutor-marked assignments and a practice exam paper. No previous knowledge of physics is assumed or required.

Our Physics GCSE course prepares students for AQA GCSE Science: Physics syllabus 3451, for exams in 2005 and later years. We have chosen this syllabus as the most suited to distance learning.

Assessment is by one written paper (80%) and coursework (20%).

Special Requirements

Some basic mathematical skills are assumed.

Practical Skills/Coursework

Distance Learning students are required to show some familiarity with a number of basic experiments. These experiments can be carried out by distance learners in the home but access to laboratory facilities is advantageous. Guidence is given in the course pack.
